What is RealSalt?
RealSalt is a Kosher certified, all natural sea salt endowed by nature with over 30 valuable trace minerals. RealSalt is mined underground from an ancient mineral deposit deep in the earth and has been protected from modern-day surface pollutants. RealSalt contains no additives or preservatives and is not heated, resulting in a great tasting, all natural salt. RealSalt contributes to the nutritional needs for a healthy body as well as providing natural flavor to improve the taste of your food.
RealSalt comes from a natural mineral rock salt deposit deep in the earth. Approximately 150 million years ago, during the geological period known as the Jurassic Age, there existed a super-saturated body of seawater near what is now known as the town of Redmond, Utah. It congealed to form a great body of rock salt and captured within the crystallization of the salt many wholesome minerals.
For many thousands of years the deposit lay buried until early Indians and pioneers discovered the deposit. Most of the early production was for livestock use, the minerals providing value for animal nutrition. Within recent years, because of the need for a salt that is free from chemical additives and the recognized value of the minerals, we received a great many requests to make it available for human consumption.
RealSalt is truly natural salt endowed by nature with valuable minerals necessary for good health. While most salts start out as salt, they don't always end up that way. Normal table salt begins in a saline solution. After processing and kiln drying at temperatures in excess of 400 degrees, it's natural state is changed and most trace minerals are lost. Then chemicals are added like silico aluminate, potassium iodine, tri-calcium phosphate, magnesium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, and yellow prussiate of soda just to name a few. These chemicals are added to bleach the salt, prevent caking and aid in free flowing. RealSalt, on the other hand, is simply crushed mineral rock salt.
